Accessibility Statement

This website is run by Hanlon Software Solutions. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website.

You should be able to:

  • Zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
  • Navigate most of the website using just a keyboard

We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand. AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability. AbilityNet has guidance for:

  • Making your mouse easier to use
  • Using your keyboard instead of a mouse
  • Talking to your device
  • Making your device talk to you
  • Making text larger
  • Changing text and background colours
  • Magnifying your screen

We aim to make this site easy to understand. If you have difficulty understanding any of the content, please contact us at support@hanlons.co.uk

Browsers and display issues

We do our best to use the latest web standards in the design and build of our websites. We suggest you use one of the following browsers:

  • Google Chrome
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Microsoft Edge

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard. Non-compliances and exemptions are listed below.

  • Images missing ‘alt’ attribute
    • Accessibility reports from Siteimprove suggest that an ‘alt’ attribute is missing from an image, however we are in the process of investigating which image this is
  • Missing button in form
    • This error is flagged by Siteimprove because it can’t detect that the website has been created using ASP.NET Web Forms. A .ASPX page can only contain one "form runat="server" control.
  • HTML is used to format content
    • A presentational attribute called ‘frameborder’ is being used on certain Google “iframes”. We use Google Maps and Google reCAPTCHA across the website and these iframes are automatically generated by Google.
  • Colour contrast is insufficient
    • The colour of the text and the colour of the background are not in sufficient contrast to each other on certain pages across the website.
  • No option to skip repeated content (whole document)
    • Means of bypassing blocks of content that are repeated on multiple web pages must be provided
  • Content not included in landmarks
    • HTML5 or WAI-ARIA landmarks are used on the page, but not all content is included. We’re looking into how we can fix this accessibility error to help with assistive technologies.
  • Aria-atomic="true" missing on error container
    • Some pages across the website have a “error container” made with the WAI-ARIA role="alert" or aria-live="assertive" attributes, but it does not contain a WAI-ARIA attribute that will make sure all assistive technologies can read the error message after more than one invalid submission.
  • Redundant WAI-ARIA attribute
    • A WAI-ARIA attribute that has the exact same features as the HTML element it has been applied to has been used. The WAI-ARIA attribute is redundant since is doesn't provide the user with any additional information.

Testing

We regularly carry out accessibility tests on our websites to make sure they are compliant with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. We use Wave and Siteimprove Chrome extension tools to help us identify and fix usability and accessibility issues.

Links to other websites

All links to other websites will open in new page (tab). We monitor the accessibility of our websites regularly but cannot guarantee that the links to other websites will be completely accessible.

Reporting accessibility problems with this website

We’re always looking to improve the accessibility of this website. If find any problems that aren’t listed on this page or think we’re not meeting accessibility requirements, contact support@hanlons.co.uk
